Rick C. Combs Memorial Hustle Scholarship Program

The Rick C. Combs Memorial Hustle Scholarship Program offers college scholarships to Centerville High School seniors who have played in or contributed to the Centerville Hustle program. Recipients have represented the Hustle program with exemplary behavior toward teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents and desire to continue involvement with the game of basketball.

About the Scholarship Program

The Rick C. Combs Memorial Hustle Scholarship Program was established May 5, 2013 in memory of Rick Combs who passed away unexpectedly on April 19, 2011. A six year Hustle basketball coach, Rick was an avid and passionate follower of CMS, CHS and Hustle basketball. He was married to Terri Combs and coached his two boys (Sean, CHS Class of ’06 and Shane, CHS Class of ’10) through the Hustle program. Rick retired from a full career at Delphi and followed by more than 5 years as a Centerville City Schools employee at Tower Heights Middle School. Rick always displayed a positive, ‘can do’ attitude at work and when working with Hustle Basketball.

Each award winner receives a $1,000 scholarship to the school that they are attending. Scholarship recipients’ names are displayed on a plaque on permanent display outside the gym at Tower Heights.
